Aussie World is marking the Year of the Dragon with a vibrant celebration of culture and community at their annual Lunar New Year Lantern Festival on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
The key festival, organised in partnership with the Sunshine Coast Chinese Association, brings a festive twist to the beloved Sunshine Coast theme park, combining rich Lunar New Year traditions with the thrills and attractions Aussie World is known for.
Event Highlights
Visitors of all ages can enjoy a packed evening of entertainment, cultural experiences and family-friendly fun from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM:
- Cultural Performances & Entertainment – Traditional dance, music and lantern displays will feature throughout the park, creating a colourful atmosphere perfect for celebrating the Lunar New Year.
- Themed Food & Refreshments – Sample festival food and Asian-inspired treats as part of the event experience.
- Evening Rides & Attractions – Aussie World’s rides will operate into the evening, allowing guests to combine festival fun with classic theme park thrills (ride access is included only with certain ticket types).
The festival seeks not just to entertain, but also to share the cultural significance of Lunar New Year celebrations — a time traditionally dedicated to family reunions, good fortune and the welcoming of a fresh year ahead.

Aussie World has structured event ticketing to suit different group sizes and interests. Standard event entry starts from $11 (excluding rides), while combo tickets featuring unlimited rides are also available.
